Few things give me greater satisfaction than inspiring others to achieve their goals. Especially BIG goals. Big D.U.M.B. Goals.
I've used S.M.A.R.T. Goals for over 30 years in my corporate leadership career and one thing is CERTAIN.
SMART Goals are mediocre at best.
SMART goals have been around for 40 years and companies love them because they can hold all of their managers accountable to the same framework.
Not because they work.
For years I created thousands of SMART Goals but would still struggle to develop my subordinate employees without much success. The more I pushed them the worse things got. As things progressively worsened I knew something had to change.
And it did.
One night in desperation, feeling overwhelmed and hopeless, I developed a secret framework that made a bit more sense to me. I decided I would first experiment on myself in case it was a dud. I had always wanted to be an author but could never make the time to sit down and write, so I put it to the test.
I used this secret framework to write and publish my first book in three months.
Excited, but not yet convinced, I used this secret framework to put together a plan to transform my leadership competencies since I had much room for improvement. I agreed to test it day after day on the job for six months to see if I could improve myself.
The change was nothing short of remarkable.
Relationships with my employees and superiors improved dramatically. Colleagues wanted to discover what caused the transformation, which is really what it was. And to be honest, I was afraid of telling them because I didn’t know if it would work for them.
So I experimented again.
I began using the secret framework on the job with my employees. Yes, I did the obligatory SMART goals so I wouldn't get in trouble, but on the side I used my secret framework with certain employees who desired to get promoted in the company.
The results even amazed myself.
One employee after another increased their results and productivity within months. I coached many of them on their leadership skills which were required to get them to the next level. I then began coaching manager trainees on their leadership capacity, performance, and personal goals.
The results flourished and the promotions began.
I promoted over 100 employees in my career and few things gave me greater job satisfaction than that. Many personal goals were also achieved and many lives were impacted during that time.
I now call my secret framework The Big D.U.M.B. Plan and for the first time ever I am revealing it to help others achieve their goals and dreams.
